When visiting someone in the hospital, most people bring a bouquet of flowers and a card. If you want to give something with a little more pizaz, why not try one of these ideas:
1. Brighten up the hospital room - flowers, small container garden and balloons will sit nicely on a windowsill.
2. Personal electronic gadgets- a portable DVD player with their favourite movies will certainly help the time pass by quickly; or an iPod or MP3 player with their favourite tunes already loaded on.
3. Mini spa treatment- why not give the patient a manicure or pedicure right in their room! Sure to brighten up anyone’s day and a happy person heals much quicker. You could also bring along hand lotion, shampoo and hand soap in the patient’s favourite scent.
4. A Get Well gift basket- filled with magazines, newspapers, novels, and game books such as Search-a-Word, crosswords or Sudoko topped with a bright, cheerful bow! This adds ambience to the room and can sit right by the bed for easy access.
5. Goody Bags - Fill a gift bag with little presents individually wrapped!
6. Stationary set - if the patient is going to be in the hospital for a while, there sure to get lots of visitors with well wishes. Let them get a head start on their Thank You notes during their stay.
7. Personal attire - a warm, comfy full-length robe, fuzzy slippers and a comfy pajama set will keep the patient warm and feel presentable when people come to visit.
8. Gift cards - instead of creating home cooked meals for the patient when they arrive home, why not get them gift cards from their favourite restaurants that deliver. This way they don’t have to fuss over heating up a meal - it can arrived already cooked and hot and ready for eating!
