Obama Family Plays Wii for Christmas

Barack Obama

President-elect Barack Obama may not always have the nicest things to say about videogames, but that doesn't mean he's not down for some Wii Sports from time to time. According to a post on the New York Times Caucus Blog, the future Commander-in-Chief put his famously lackluster bowling skills to the test with his daughters' freshly unwrapped Wii this Christmas. The result? The President-to-be is apparently much better at knocking down digital pins than the real thing.

"We're going to have to parent better, and turn off the television set, and put the video games away, and instill a sense of excellence in our children," cautioned the now-President-elect back on the campaign trail in February of last year -- more of a message of moderation than an indictment of gaming itself. While Obama has often worried that videogames are "raising our kids," this bit of news stands as evidence that he's not completely against them. Let's hope he leads by example and remains involved in his own family's gaming -- in between resuscitating the economy, solving the healthcare crisis, and putting the wraps on two wars, that is.
