Maggies Drawers

A satchel is thought to be just another name for what is now known as the messenger bag, although some would beg to differ.   The satchel came before the backpack, and was often used as a book bag for students.  The modern leather satchels usually refer to handbags women carry as purses. (The word “satchel” always makes me laugh because when I was a kid, one of my aunts would always greet me when I arrived at her house with, “I see you’ve brought your satchel.”)  The satchels available at Maggie’s Drawers are a lot more stylish than my book bags for school ever were!
